About the Game

After AMSTRAD shuffles the deck, it deals 8 cards to itself, 8 to the player, and one in the middle. If this is the first game, AMSTRAD will ask you if you want to play first; otherwise, the winner of the previous game starts first. By moving the cursor with the arrow keys on the keyboard, the player chooses the card they want to play with the SPACE BAR. Remember that the cards you take must match the color or number of the card in the center of the screen, with the exception of the ace.

The ace can always be played, unless there is also an ace in the center. By playing an ace, the player (or AMSTRAD) can change the suit to whatever they want (spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs). If the player has no card to play, they draw one from the deck by pressing ENTER. In general, pressing ENTER is like saying to the COMPUTER, "I don't have or don't want to play." The first player to finish their cards gets one point and starts the next game. The player who exceeds 6 1/2 points is the winner. Cards with special functions are the 7 and 8 clubs, the aces, and the nines. You know what happens with the 7s: if you play a 7, you force your opponent to draw two cards, unless he or she also has a 7, in which case they draw four cards, and so on.
