Released in 2006, Titan Quest is an action role-playing game developed by Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ. Widely regarded as one of the defining action RPGs of the mid-2000s, it stands out for its unique setting, drawing heavily from Greek mythology while also incorporating the civilizations and mythologies of Ancient Egypt and Asia. Although developed by an American studio, its extensive use of Greek history and mythology has made it one of the most recognizable games inspired by ancient Greece.

The story begins in Ancient Greece, where the mythical Titans, the powerful predecessors of the Olympian gods, threaten to escape their imprisonment and plunge the world into chaos. Bound by cosmic laws that prevent them from intervening directly, the Olympian gods rely on a single mortal hero to stop the growing menace before the Titans reclaim their former dominion.

The player's journey spans a vast portion of the ancient world, beginning in Greece before continuing through Egypt and the ancient civilizations of the East. Along the way, players explore iconic locations inspired by historical sites such as Sparta, Delphi, and Knossos, while confronting legendary creatures including Satyrs, Centaurs, Gorgons, Minotaurs, Hydras, Cyclopes, and many other beings drawn from classical mythology.

Instead of choosing a fixed character class, players combine two separate Masteries from a selection of eight, creating dozens of possible class combinations. This flexible progression system allows for a wide variety of playstyles, ranging from heavily armored melee warriors to elemental spellcasters, archers, summoners, or hybrid builds that mix physical and magical abilities.

Equipment also plays a central role in character development.
