About the Game
Ikariam is one of Gameforge's best-known browser-based strategy games and combines city building, resource management, exploration, trade, diplomacy and warfare within a fictional world strongly inspired by Ancient Greece. The game takes place across a Mediterranean-style archipelago where players begin with a small settlement and gradually develop it into a larger island empire.
Players construct buildings, manage their population and resources, research technologies and develop their economy. Since different islands provide access to different resources, trade and cooperation with other players become essential for expansion. The real-time nature of construction and research means that the player's civilization continues developing while they are away from the game.
Naval activity is another central part of Ikariam. Players can establish additional colonies, maintain fleets and participate in both commercial and military activities. Alliances, diplomacy and interaction between players are important parts of the game's long-term progression, turning the individual city-building experience into a large persistent online world.
