About the Game
The Premise
The story is set in the year 2455 AD, where the world is suffering from a deadly global virus. The evil Kage Mishima holds the world hostage using the Mishima Corporation, which is the only entity possessing the vaccine. Mishima also steals the Daikatana, a legendary mystical sword created centuries ago by the player character's ancestor that grants the wielder the ability to bend the fabric of time and alter reality.
The Journey
You control Hiro Miyamoto, a master martial artist and leader of the Miyamoto clan. When a stranger warns Hiro of Mishima's plot to rewrite history, Hiro's dojo is attacked and his friend Mikiko is kidnapped.
Hiro sets out to rescue Mikiko, defeat Mishima, and recover the Daikatana. However, because time travel is highly complex, Kage Mishima repeatedly uses the power of the Daikatana to banish Hiro and his allies to various hazardous time periods.
To stop Mishima and restore history to its rightful path, Hiro must:
Travel through Space and Time: Explore eight distinct historical and futuristic eras (spanning ancient times to dystopian futures).Solve Dungeons: Navigate tricky, action-adventure puzzles alongside his companions.Power up the Sword: Seek out historical figures and heroes across different eras to help recharge and unseal the true magic of the Daikatana.
Daikatana boasts a decent array of opponents over its four time periods. The medieval castle was loaded with knights and archers, while the plague-striken village nearby was flooded with rats and worms. Move to ancient Greece and encounter skeletal foes and then go to San Francisco in the near future and fight a handful of chaps with rocket launchers in a naval base. The different kinds of enemies allow for a good deal of experimentation with the plentiful secondary weapons.
