About the Game
Builders of Greece is a city-building and strategy game set in ancient Greece, during the age of the Greek city-states. Developed by BLUM Entertainment and Strategy Labs, the game first entered Early Access on February 27, 2024, before receiving its full release on May 6, 2025.
Players take the role of the ruler of an ancient Greek settlement and begin with a relatively small community, with the goal of transforming it into a prosperous and powerful polis. Developing the city requires careful management of resources, population, economy, and infrastructure, as well as thoughtful urban planning.
The core gameplay revolves around building and managing a city. Players construct different types of buildings, organize production infrastructure, and establish networks for gathering and processing resources. Citizens have different needs, and keeping the population satisfied is essential for maintaining stability and encouraging further growth.
The economy is another major part of the game. The city requires resources, production, and trade in order to expand. Players must establish effective production networks and ensure that essential goods are available to their population. At the same time, decisions concerning the administration of the city can have significant effects on its social and economic development.
Growth is not limited to economic management. The game features an extensive management and decision-making system through which players determine how their city will be governed. Poor decisions can lead to problems such as riots, plagues, or rapid emigration, while effective leadership can encourage people to settle in the city and contribute to its development.
Architecture is another important element. Builders of Greece features dozens of different buildings inspired by ancient Greek architecture. Players can construct housing, production facilities, and public buildings, gradually transforming a small settlement into a much larger and more developed city.
Peaceful development is accompanied by military and political challenges. The player's city does not exist in isolation, and hostile forces can threaten its security and prosperity. Military strength therefore becomes another important consideration as the city grows and competing powers emerge.
The game also introduces unexpected events and opportunities that can affect the development of a city. Players therefore have to adapt their plans and respond to changing circumstances rather than simply following a fixed development path.
One of the defining aspects of Builders of Greece is its attempt to combine traditional city-building mechanics with elements inspired by the political, economic, and social organization of ancient Greek city-states. The ultimate goal is to create a city distinguished by its prosperity, culture, architecture, and military strength.
