About the Game

Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered is the remastered version of Asterix & Obelix XXL, an action-adventure game originally released in 2003. The Romastered edition was developed by French studio OSome Studio and published by Microids, releasing on October 22, 2020.

The story begins when Asterix and Obelix return to their village and discover that it has been attacked and pillaged by the Romans. The villagers have been captured, and the two Gauls set out on a long journey to rescue them, accompanied by their faithful dog, Dogmatix.

Their adventure takes them beyond Gaul and across several regions of the ancient world, including Normandy, Greece, Helvetia, Egypt and finally Rome, as they follow the trail of the captured villagers.

Greece therefore forms a significant part of the adventure and provides the game's direct connection to your database. The Greek setting is presented through the distinctive humorous style of the Asterix comics, combining references to ancient Greece with the series' characteristic satire.

Gameplay combines 3D platforming, exploration and combat. Players can switch between Asterix and Obelix, using their different abilities to fight Romans, pirates and other enemies. Their magic potion provides the strength needed to overcome the various obstacles and opponents.

The Romastered edition retains the original adventure while significantly updating its presentation. It features remastered graphics and soundtrack, improved animations and new gameplay elements.

Four additional modes were also introduced: Retro Mode, allowing players to switch back to the original graphics, Course Mode, Countdown Mode and Extreme Mode. The remaster therefore goes beyond a simple visual upgrade by adding new ways to play the original adventure.
