About the Game

12 Labours of Hercules IX: A Hero's Moonwalk is the ninth main entry in the 12 Labours of Hercules series, combining time-management, strategy, adventure, and puzzle elements. It was developed by Zoom Out Games and Jetdogs Studios, with its first release taking place on September 7, 2019, followed by its Steam release on October 24.

This time, Hercules leaves the world of ancient Greece and travels into space. Selene, the goddess associated with the Moon in Greek mythology, sends out a call for help after a dangerous monster threatens to destroy the galaxy. Hercules accepts the mission and begins a journey across distant and unfamiliar worlds.

Hercules is accompanied by Cerberus, the mythical three-headed hound of Hades, who is presented here as the hero's companion. Together they travel aboard a spaceship, exploring different planets and locations while searching for the monster and attempting to restore peace.

Gameplay retains the core mechanics of the series. Players must collect resources, clear paths, repair structures, and organize their actions in order to complete the objectives of each level. The space setting introduces portals, alien technology, unusual locations, and puzzles, giving the familiar formula a new environment.

The game uses the colorful 2D cartoon style associated with the series, while the ninth entry stands out through its combination of Greek mythology and science-fiction elements. Hercules, Cerberus, and Selene appear alongside spaceships, planets, portals, and alien technology.

The game also includes bonus levels set on Mercury, extending the adventure beyond the main storyline.

12 Labours of Hercules IX: A Hero's Moonwalk is therefore one of the more unusual thematic departures in the series. Instead of remaining within the traditional world of Greek myths and ancient Greece, it transports familiar mythological characters into a space adventure while retaining the time-management gameplay of its predecessors.
