About the Game

Chicken Invaders is an arcade shoot 'em up developed by Greek company InterAction Studios and serves as the beginning of a series centered around an unusual enemy: invading chickens. Originally released in 1999, the game was later made available on additional platforms.

The story is deliberately humorous. Humanity is attacked by chickens from outer space, who have decided to take revenge on humans for the oppression they have suffered. Players take control of a spaceship pilot and must fight back against the invasion before the chickens manage to conquer Earth.

Gameplay follows the classic shoot 'em up formula. Players control a spaceship along the bottom of the screen and continuously fire at enemies approaching from above. Chickens appear in formations and attack in different patterns, while players must avoid enemy attacks and objects falling from the sky.

During each stage, players can collect power-ups that improve their ship's weapons and make it easier to deal with increasingly large waves of enemies. Alongside the regular chickens, the game introduces larger and more dangerous enemies as well as major encounters at the end of stages.

One of the game's defining characteristics is its combination of traditional arcade action with its comedic premise. Instead of aliens, monsters, or hostile space fleets, players face chickens, eggs, and other deliberately absurd elements that transform a conventional space invasion into a light-hearted arcade adventure.

Chicken Invaders is particularly relevant to a database of games connected with Greece because it was created by InterAction Studios, a Greek game development company. The series that began with this title would later expand into one of the most recognizable independent game franchises created by a Greek studio.
