About the Game

Abtos Covert is a first-person survival horror game developed by Greek studio Iphigames together with Team Abtos, and released on December 8, 2023, for Windows. The story takes place at a remote military outpost on Mount Abtos, surrounded by a dense forest and haunted by disturbing local legends.

The player takes the role of a soldier assigned to guard the isolated outpost during the night. At first, the assignment appears simple and uneventful. The base is far from civilization, with only an old shrine and the surrounding forest visible from the station. However, the other soldiers warn the newcomer about the strange stories associated with the location: disappearances, shadows moving through the trees, unexplained sounds, rituals, and spirits supposedly still haunting the area.

As the nights progress, these stories begin to take on a more disturbing meaning. Strange entities start appearing around the outpost, forcing the soldier to investigate what is really happening. At the same time, the player searches for clues and messages left behind by previous guards who served at the same location. These discoveries gradually reveal more information about the outpost and the events that have taken place there.

Gameplay focuses on observation, survival, and limited resource management. Players have access to cameras and motion sensors to monitor the surrounding area and must react quickly when something unusual is detected. Spotlights can be used to reveal threats, while hiding can sometimes be the safest option when an entity approaches.

Each supernatural threat has its own behavior pattern, meaning players must pay attention to enemy movements and distinctive sounds and adapt their survival strategy accordingly. Limited power also plays an important role, as using the outpost's equipment consumes resources and can leave the player without essential defensive tools.

The game's atmosphere and narrative draw inspiration from Greek military experiences in remote border areas, combining this setting with elements of Greek folklore and supernatural horror. The isolated guard post, the loneliness of night duty, and the stories shared among soldiers form the foundation of the game's setting.
